The Rainbow Trout, a cherished fish species indigenous to North America, also graces the waters of Australia, dwelling in the elevated terrains stretching from northern NSW to Victoria, the hills surrounding Adelaide in South Australia, and the realms of Tasmania. Its mesmerizing red streak embodies its distinct allure. Regrettably, numerous subspecies of rainbow trout have suffered diminishing numbers within their native habitats, confronting challenges such as excessive exploitation, habitat deterioration, ailments, encroaching species, and contamination.

The presence of verdant mucus and slime-draped surfaces poignantly narrates the prevalent pollution in today's watercourses.
